International E-Conference on
Economy under Sanctions
Mohsen kelich Director of Toroudshomal Research Company
And E-Conference General Chair
22 September 2013
At the beginning, I must point out why are sanctions established and
whether the sanctions were successful or not, based on the goal
prospective. By definition, sanction is manipulating the economic
relations and cooperation to achieve political goals. In fact, sanction
is a foreign policy instrument which allows the executer to oblige the
targets, in line with political purposes.
According to targets, there are two kinds of sanctions:
First: To make political regimes unstable, because of strategic
differences between sanction executer and sanctions target. This kind
of sanctions aims to change the target country regime.
Second: using sanctions to change the behavior of the target country.
These sanctions are much milder than the first.
It is time to look deeper in established sanctions and figure out if
the sanctions were successful or not. We want to investigate the
number of successful sanctions in terms of changing the regime
or political behavior of the target countries.
Let s thinking more and more by open mind, or it is time to look
deeper, It is time to study the effect of sanctions on public health,
poverty, food safety, environments, migration, humanitarian aid,
drug, energy production and trade, international financial systems,
business, SMEs, entrepreneurship, employment, tourism,
investment and so forth. We want to survey that whether
sanctions are pro to the spirit of human rights?
