The “Classic EMR” is a medical record system that has data
formatted electronically mainly used by the physician's office
for faster documentation and retrieval of patient information,
prescription writing, scheduling, and other elements in the
medical office formerly performed by pen and paper. The
majority of EMRs by this definition are value priced and are
purchased by small to medium sized medical groups. Input
into this type of charting system includes dictation, typing,
and/or point-and-clicking.
