Institutional Inroads
The CRETE Project
• CRETE (Conflict Resolution Education in Teacher
Education)
– Collaboration between Temple University, Cleveland State
University, Kent State University, and the Ohio Commission
for Dispute Resolution
– The goal is to provide pre-service teachers with critical
skills and knowledge of conflict education necessary for
cultivating constructive learning environments for
children, enhancing student learning and bolstering
teacher retention.

The CRETE Project
• Two modes of service delivery
– Infused through a series of coordinated pre-service courses (taught by
higher education faculty trained in conflict processes and mentored in
infusion)
– Provided as external seminar series
• Project evaluation
– Students will be assigned to one of two conditions
– Control group identified
– Data collected pre and post graduation on teacher retention,
teacher satisfaction, learning implementation, classroom
climate, and student achievement, and student behavior
