Adult Treatment Courts Serve:
High needs/high risk individuals:
those who are likely to continue to
engage in criminal behavior without
an intervention.
Criteria:
Substance abuse addiction
Co-occurring disorders
Crimes related to substance abuse
A potential sentence long enough to
justify a 16-18 month program
Treatment Courts Provide:

Intensive substance abuse treatment
Wrap around case management
Mental health treatment
Drug testing - twice a week
Regular status hearings before a judge
Referrals for:
• housing and housing supports
• health services
• job skills training & employment
• educational services
• other needed supports
Treatment Court Structure
Program Phases
Orientation Phase:
• ~30 days
• Clinical & legal eligibility
• Orientation for referred individual
• Change of plea
• Plea agreement
• Participant contract signed
Phase 1: Stabilization:
• Detoxification
• Safe and sober housing
• Residential treatment
• Intensive outpatient treatment
• Bi-weekly court sessions
• Drug testing / 60 days
Phases 2 & 3: Change & Recovery
As progress is made, there are additional
requirements:
• Treatment groups
• Employment
• Education
• Aftercare plan
• Monthly court sessions
• Drug testing / 90 days.
