Novas Mid West Community Detox
c c/o McGarry House, Alphonsus Street, Limerick
• Provides Safe Detox from Benzo’s & methadone
on an outpatient basis (in the community)
– A national initiative supported by the HSE and the
Irish College of General Practitioners
– Available to anyone in the Midwest
– Links person with their doctor, through the support of
a key worker for a monitored and safe detox
– Individual care plans developed with person looking to
detox.

Novas Respite House
Newport, Co Tipperary
• A safe space for families, without the substance misuser, giving
them time to reflect & to nurture their own needs
– Day, overnight & weekend respite available
– Family sized house with a large garden
– Children welcome & family fun activities organised: county walks
horse riding, swimming
• Enables families to develop new coping skills, gain insights into their
situation and implement harm reduction strategies in their lives.
• Alternative therapies available on site to support relaxation /stress
reduction

Non-Residential Treatment Center Based in Limerick City
Service is principally based on ‘Harm Reduction Leading to Total Abstinence’
– Addiction counselling(drugs, alcohol & gambling), Assessment, Case management
– Treatment Options include 1:1 counselling and both harm reduction and abstinence
based therapeutic groups/programmes.
– Provision of aftercare for a period of two years post-treatment.

LCAES, Limerick
Established to assist in the development of preventative strategies/initiatives in a targeted manner through the
development of youth facilities, (including sport and recreational facilities) and services in disadvantaged areas
where a significant drug problem exists or has the potential to develop.
The objective of the Fund is to attract "at risk" young people in disadvantaged areas into these facilities and
activities and divert them away from the dangers of substance abuse.
Target group: 10-21 year olds marginalised through a combination of risk factors relating to family background,
environmental circumstances, educational disadvantage, involvement in crime and/or drugs, etc.
