Clinical Engineering Key Discipline Construction
 Discipline construction plays an increasingly important role in the
development of a hospital, thereby improving health service delivery,
in terms of quality and efficiency.
 The Clinical engineering department of Inner Mongolia People’s
Hospital was originally established in 1982. By integration of good
management practice, scientific research, education
and training, sustainable development of the discipline has
been promoted.

Conclusions and Action Plan
Outcome

In 2008, this discipline was selected as a medical key discipline of Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region, which is the only key discipline at the provincial level in China.

In 2010, along with five others, this discipline was selected as a key discipline of the
national health system.

Serving as a Guidance and Demonstration role.
Some Specific Facts

Decreasing medical device failure rate
— Mean Down Time was down from 4.4 days to 2.1days.

Promoting the rational use of Medical Supplies
— Medical supplies proportion decreased from 18.9% to 13.6%.

Reducing the human error of medical device application
— Reported adverse events continues to fall.
