• Confirms one more year of
stimulus (to end-March 2011)
• Emphasis then will be on
eliminating the deficit:
– 2009-10: $53.8 B
– 2010-11: $49.2 B
– 2011-12: $27.6 B
• Department’s operating
budgets frozen at 2010-11
levels until 2012-13

Budget 2010 – Transport/Border
• Border Security
– CBSA: $87 M/two years:
• vehicle and cargo scanning equipment, upgraded information
systems, enhanced programs (Partners in Protection, NEXUS)
• Aviation Security
– Air Cargo Security: $75.6 M/5 years, for Transport Canada
– Aviation Security: Air Travelers’ Security Charge increased April 1,
to raise $1.5 billion over five years
• DRIC
– Transport Canada receives $10 M/3 years for legal, financial and
technical work
• Montréal Bridges
– $51 M/2 years for Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges
