Rhetorical appeals are just the beginning
 Rhetorical appeals can be broken down even further
into different types of persuasive techniques used by
advertisers.
 There are many different types and names given to
these techniques.
 Let’s start with some of the most common:
1. Slogan
2. Statistics
3. Repetition
4. Rhetorical Question
5. Hyperbole
1) Slogan: i’m lovin’ it

Rhetorical Question: Got Milk?
A rhetorical question is one in which the answer is so
obvious it is not required.

Hyperbole: Intentionally exaggerate
Use language or visuals that
are intentionally too
amazing to be true.

 Find examples for at least four of the different
types of ads shown today. Place the links on your
group’s page in the following format:
technique - (slogan, statistics, repetition, etc.)
link - (Youtube or webpage)
product - What are they trying to sell?
intended audience - Who are they trying to sell to?
effective? - Does it succeed? Why or why not?
