PP2 Tests

Markus Keil, Service Test Meeting, 14 March 2007
Goal of the Measurements
 Exercise Mauro’s power-up procedure for PP2:
– Compare the “unkill-power-up” and the “ramping-power-up”.
– Check whether we can use this power up procedure to detect broken sense
lines before applying the full voltage to the modules.
 Draw conclusions for a possible revision of the FSM.
 For the time being, use the service test setup to do survey a manually
performed power-up procedure.

Power-up Procedure and Measurements


Reset Trimmers to 0
Ramp Wiener voltage to VUp, set trimmers and inhibit states.
Lower Wiener voltage to VLow
Unkill board
Measure output voltage at load
Measure voltage with PP2, current with PP4
Repeat for different load currents, with and without sense
Repeat for different VUp and VLow
Check stability and margin for trimmer and inhibit setting in this powering
scheme
Check possibility to find broken sense

Power-up Comparison
 Maybe interesting to compare the different power-up procedures before
revision of the FSM...
 Transient measurement at unkill (compare with ramping)
– Load measurement would require external triggering / synchronisation
– Oscilloscope measurement?
 Compare duration of module high-current state at power-on for the two
methods
