 Soft-copy output: Output is not produced on a paper
or some material that can be touched. For example,
contents displayed on monitor.
 Hard-copy output: Output is produced on a paper or
some material that can be touched. For example, output
produced by printer.

 Also known as Visual Display Unit(VDU).

 Light in weight
 Require low voltage and current.
DISADVANTAGES
 Viewing angle is small.
 Limited temperature range.
 Poor visibility under low

 Projects the output onto external surface which can be
viewed by number of persons simultaneously.
 Temporary soft copy device.

 Provides output in the form of sound.
 Used in automated multimedia presentations, automatic
answering machines, alarm clocks etc.
