IEM Industrial Electrical Mfg. (Canada) Inc.
IEM Canada is a subsidiary of IEM US who is North America’s
largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical
distribution and power quality equipment.
Tradition. Technology. Innovation.
TRADITION. TECHNOLOGY. INNOVATION.
IEM began business in a barn on
a family ranch in Fremont, CA.
Original team in 1950

TRADITION. TECHNOLOGY. INNOVATION.
IEM grew along with Silicon Valley, moving to a 12,000 sq ft facility in 1957,
expanding to 70,000 sq ft in 1980 and to 105,000 sq ft in 2003 with offices on
the East Coast and Western Canada.
3
TRADITION. TECHNOLOGY. INNOVATION.
IEM has been solving power
distribution challenges for HP,
Apple, and dozens of
prominent companies since
they were start-ups.
A dedicated research division
in Canada keeps IEM at the
forefront of electrical
distribution development.

4
TRADITION. TECHNOLOGY. INNOVATION.
IEM pioneered the use of fully integrated CAD and manufacturing
systems, beginning in 1979 with the first CAD/CAM system for
electrical equipment metal fabrication.
5
TRADITION. TECHNOLOGY. INNOVATION.
IEM developed the medium voltage vacuum
breaker in the 1980’s, pioneered the use of
breakers on 21kV systems, and was the first
to design a 3000A free standing breaker
for utilities.
6
TRADITION. TECHNOLOGY. INNOVATION.
At IEM today, tradition and
technology still drive
innovation.
Products like state-of-the-art
paralleling switchgear and
medium voltage fully frontaccessible arc resistant
switchgear are the results of
this process.
7
IEM’s Unique Parallel Manufacturing System
IEM’s unique parallel manufacturing system allows complete flexibility and modification at any
stage of the manufacturing process. This IEM Difference results in shorter manufacturing cycles,
increased flexibility after start of production, and easy integration of special designs.
