1.ABSTRACT:
This paper reviews general guidelines on user interface design for self service and
public information kiosk systems, based on the author’s research and existing
literature. The guidelines are divided into: defining user requirements, location
and encouraging use, physical access, introduction and instruction, language
selection, privacy, help, input, output, structure and
navigation,
and
customization. The paper also emphasizes the need to design for stakeholders
other than the end users, and offers some guidelines on user-based evaluation of
kiosk systems.
2.OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of the project is to provide a services to know the location
of the place. In this process if the person wants to the know the information
about the location then he need to press the switch, after pressing the switch the
ARM controller and do proper operation and will give voice announcement
about the location.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
ARM 7 / Cortex M3, LCD, Relay Driver, Relays, Resistors, Capacitors, LEDs, Crystal, Diodes, Transformer, Voltage Regulator,
Push Button.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
Keil compiler uVision 4, Language: Embedded C or Assembly, WLPRO Programmer
4.METHODOLOGY:
The project consists of switches unit consisting of appropriate switches, controller
and a voice announcement speaker with voice kit. If the person wants to know the
information of the location where he is there, for that he need to press the switch.
If the switch is pressed, the pressed switch will indicates the requirement of the
person like information of the location. The signal from the switch is given to the
controller. Then the controller will indicate the pressed key via display and the
same information announce corresponding voice information about the location of
the place.
5. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES:
ADVANTAGES:
1.
Automatic way of finding the information of the location .
2.
Consumes less power .
3.
Facilitates simple asset recovery and tracking.
4.
Helps the visually disabled to navigate safely..
5.
Improving the capacity of the system helps to cover large areas.
DISADVANTAGES:
1.
The only thing that is clear about constitutional protections for location-based service
information is the lack of clarity.
6. APPLICATIONS:
1.
Public and private transportation.
2.
Location searching.
3.
Espionage/surveillance.
4.
Useful for visually impaired as an information guider.
5.
Can also be used as location identifier using suitable modifications.
6.
Can be used for providing security against theft and enemy alerts for blind
people.
7.
Can be implemented in trains and buses to provide information about the
upcoming stations to the passengers.
7. CONCLUSION:
In this System the Location Information Management, designed and
developed a
low cost system based on integration of
ARM controller is
described. The system consists of different modules which are linked
to
controller service is used for the transfer of data between the modules. A new
service, to facilitate the people who is unknown for traveling, is introduced. The
service provides the user with current information of desired location with voice
announcement.
