Sample data gathered in experiments. The left side plots shows the ADC counts from
scintillators (tile and strip) while the right side plots are ADC counts for checking the LED.
Data for fiber with 15 cuts (TYPE B diameter = 0.7 mm , depth = 0.2 mm)
Data for fiber with 5 cuts (diameter = 0.3 mm , depth = 0.2 mm)
In order to compare plots, the data from scintillator is divided by the data for
monitoring LED to take into account the fluctuations on the LED
The plot is then shifted such that the first point is at 1 at y-axis.
with this, the plots for both
tile and strip scintillators
must be the same…

The 5th plot shows a higher
value even at cut 5. This is
a good prospect for type of
cut to be used for the
monitoring system

The 5th plot shows (it must
be the same result for

Conclusion


The type with cylindrical “cut” (0.3mm diameter, 0.2 mm depth)
showed a large count even at cut 5, which means the
fiber can be extended and can monitor more than 5
scintillators at a time.
The graph showing the data from strip scintillators
showed sudden change in patterns compared with the
data from tile scintillators. This maybe due to its small
dimension that little change of position of clear fiber
causes changes in counts due to direct absorption of
light to WLS fiber.
