CONCEPT
The concept of the Textile City is based on designing an
exclusive production area specializing in large-scale
production of value added textile products
To create a broad and integrated free trade zone to
strengthen the dyeing sector
Providing necessary infrastructure facilities such as
sufficient water, gas, stable voltage power, and
treatment of waste water that ensures cleaner
environment in the Textile City
Making available all support activities to ensure a high
level of productivity and quick delivery response to
export orders.
Location
The Textile City is located at Port Qasim, the new
state of the art Harbour to the west of Karachi.
1250 acres of land have been allocated by the
Port Qasim Authority, out of which 750 acres are
ready for development.
The Pakistan Textile Company Limited has been
formed, with an equity of Rs.
A Board of Directors has been formed comprising
eminent stakeholders from the private as well as
the public sector
Facilities
- The Textile City will be declared an Export Processing Zone
-Priority will be given to large-scale factories with minimum
capacity of the knitted fabric dyeing of 20 MT/day and/or
50,000 meter/day for woven fabrics
- Guaranteed supply of sufficient water (18 million gallon/day
or 80,000MT/day) as well as stable voltage power and gas.
-Common facilities for waste-water treatment
-Ancillary industry for textile accessories e.g. sewing thread
interlining, padding, buttons, zipper, tags, embroidery, labels,
etc
-A housing complex for the workers and transport facilities
