The 3 Appeals in
Persuasive Language
Persuasive writers and speakers work to
affect you in these areas:
• Ethos - ethical or moral (sense of right or
wrong)
• Pathos – emotional or feelings (tugging on
your heart strings)
• Logos - logical or mental (if it makes sense
then you need it)
