Duck
By Meish Goldish
Duck in the water,
quack, quack, quack!
Soft, white feathers on your back,
back, back!
Duck in the water, splash and
splish!
Dip in your bill and catch those
fish!
Duck out of water, walk on land.
Your webbed feet make it hard to
stand!
Waddle with your family, waddle in
a pack.
Duck out of water, quack, quack,
quack!
In The Cupboard
By Barbara Ireson
I went to the cupboard
And what did I see?
One lemon
Two oranges
Three apples
Four pears
Five peaches
Six plums
Seven bananas
Eight cherries
Nine gooseberries
And up on a shelf
All by itself
A birthday cake for me!
Five Little Easter Eggs
Five little easter eggs,
Lovely colors wore,
Mother ate the blue one;
Then there were four.
Four little Easter eggs,
Two and two you see,
Daddy ate the red one;
Then there were three.
Two little Easter eggs,
Oh what fun!
Brother ate the purple one;
Then there was one.
One little Easter egg,
See me run!
I ate the last one;
Then there was none!
Too Busy
By Bruce lansky
I’ve folded my laundry
And put it in the drawer.
I’ve changed my linen, made my bed,
And swept my bedroom floor.
I’ve emptied out the garbage
And fixed tomorrow’s lunch.
I’ve baked some cookies for dessert
And given dad a munch.
I’ve searched the house for pencils
And sharpened every one.
There are so many things to do
When my homework must be done!
Under The Bed
By Penny Trzynka
There’s a terrible green monster
Who lives beneath my bed.
I hear his long white teeth click.
He’s waiting to be fed.
I shiver underneath my sheets
And squeeze my eyes up tight.
Maybe if I lie real still
He won’t eat me tonight…
He taps me on the shoulder.
I don’t know what to do.
He looks at me and says, “I’m scared!
Can I get in with you?”
Penguin
Meish Goldish
I know a bird
That cannot fly:
Penguin is its name.
It cannot fly,
But it can swim
With speed that wins it fame!
I know a bird
That lives on ice
And waddles by the sea.
It looks so cute
In its black-and-white suit,
As handsome as can be!
Leaf Blankets
Irene B. Crofoot
Leaves are falling, soft as
snowflakes,
Red and yellow, gold and brown;
The breeze laughs gaily in the
treetops,
Shaking all the color down.
Leaves are covering the gardens
As my blanket covers me.
When cold winter comes, the
flowers
Will be warm as warm can be.

A Circle of Friends
We've joined together as
classmates
as the new year begins...
A year full of learning
while we become friends.
We'll share and be kind
as we work and play.
And our friendship will grow
with each passing day.
Five Brown Eggs
Five brown eggs in a nest of hay,
One yellow chick popped out to play.
Four brown eggs in a nest of hay,
Another yellow chick cheep-cheeped
Good day.
Three brown eggs in a nest of hay,
Crack went another one, Hip hooray.
Two brown eggs in a nest of hay,
One more chick pecked his shell away.
One brown egg in a nest of hay,
The last yellow chick popped out to
say,
Happy Easter!
