Overview:
Processes in Carbon Cycling
·Carbon cycles between the ______ (biotic) and _______
(abiotic) environments.
·Carbon is fixed in the process of photosynthesis and
returned to the atmosphere in ___________.
·Carbon may remain _______ up for long periods of time, e.g.
in the wood of trees or in _______ _______ such as coal or
oil.
·Humans have disturbed the balance of the carbon cycle
through activities such as combustion and ____________.

Carbon Cycle
Photosynthesis - using light energy to convert carbon dioxide into glucose
(C6H12O6) Notice glucose has carbon in it. This is how carbon is stored in plants.
Respiration - using energy from food (glucose) and turning it into useable
energy for the body. It produces Carbon Dioxide as a waste. This is how
carbon leaves plants and animals and ends up in the air
