has leaves which causes a very
itchy and painful rash on your
skin if you touch them.

What is Urushiol
• Urushiol is an oily organic
allergen found in plants like
Poison Ivy

Urushiol
• The rash that you get from poison ivy is caused by a chemical in
the sap called Urushiol.
• If you come in contact with Urushiol, washing off the sap will limit
your reaction to it. You have to wash it off before any significant
penetration occurs.
• If you aren’t allergic to Urushiol cannot affect you.
• Urushiol is contagious, touching other’s will give them Poison Ivy
as well.
• It’s been proven Urushiol is alcohol soluble.
• Urushiol can’t evaporate.
• Dead Poison Ivy contains Urushiol well as living plants.
