Limiting Factors
The
fence near our tree is a limiting factor
because it affects how big the tree is
going to get.
Bugs and insects that eat the tree could
kill it.
5 interesting facts about our
tree
The red maple grows fast.
It has a tolerance to a wide range of soils.
It produces fruit in the spring called samara
and it’s important wildlife food because its
available when other wildlife food typically
isn’t ready yet.
Red maple is named for its red flowers, red
fruit, red twigs, and the red fall foliage.
Red maple is a fast growing tree. The largest
one can grow more than 120 feet tall.
Purposes of our wood
Its
used extensively for inexpensive
furniture.
Its used for baskets, crates, railroad ties,
and fuel wood.
The bark on young wood is smooth and
light gray in color. When it gets older it
gets darker.
Bark on medium sized trees (most of the
time) have a pattern of concentric rings.
The thing we enjoyed most
about our tree
“I enjoyed watching the
leaves change with the
seasons.” said Emily.
“I enjoyed
watching our tree
change when we
went down there
each time” said
Brittany.
