 Culture
can be defined as a “set of beliefs,
values, attitudes, habits, and forms of
behavior that are shared by a society and
are transmitted from generation to
generation,” Bennett and Kassasjin, 1982.
 Culture affects how individuals behave
within another country or suculture.
Culture and Society

There are five way in which culture has an
impact on tourism





1. Cultural values give individuals rules for behavior.
2. Cultural values develop certain attitudes and
perceptions.
3. Cultural values influence how people evaluate the
world.
4. Cultural differences can impact the level of
satisfaction that tourists have with a destination.
5. Cultural differences can cause difficulties in social
interactions.
 A culture’s
overall values determine which
goals and behavior gain social approval
and dissapproval.
 In other words, people are cocerned about
how others will think of them. So, they will
choose a vacation that is acceptable to
there value.
 In
the U.S. many people have developed
more positive attitudes toward vacations
and the environment together.
 Many U.S. citizens like to hunt, fish, an
rock climb. Yet, one study showed that if
one was easily upset there less likely to
participate in vigorous activities.
