Dividing 30 Year War
What and Why:
The 30 Years War was mainly a religious battle
between the Catholics and the Protestants, but
then led to a “Power Battle” so to speak. “The
threads of religion, state-building, internal
social conflict, and international interests were
so tangled up in one another that signal
triumphs in one area could have unexpected
repercussions in a different area” -John C.
Theibault
Dividing 30 Year War
Importance:
The end of the Thirty Years War produced a
number of dramatic consequences and altered
Western Europe in significant religious, political,
and social ways.
“Generally speaking, the post-war period
produced the dissolution of the Holy Roman
Empire and the subsequent fall of the Habsburg
powers” -Nicole Smith
