Daily Folders and
Behavior Logs
Students are responsible for bringing their
daily folder and behavior log home each day.
These serve as an important communication
log between the teacher and parents.
•
Parents should initial each day so that I
know they have seen any notes and are aware
of their child’s behavior for the day.
•
•
There is a pencil pouch in each folder that
can be used to store notes, money, etc.
ENGLISH LANUGAGE ARTS
AND READING HOMEWORK
Spelling words will be given to your child at the
beginning of each week. A sheet listing them will be
located in your child’s take home folder.
•
Students are responsible for studying and mastering
these words by the end of the week for the spelling
test (usually Friday). At times, a “menu of choices” will be sent
home for the students to choose a way to write their spelling
words and turn in at the end of the week.
•
In addition to spelling, your child is also expected to read 1520 minutes each week night at home. BEGINNING IN
OCTOBER, a reading log will be sent home with your child. He/she is
expected to read AT LEAST 20 MINUTES EACH NIGHT, ending
their week with 80 minutes read. This help builds stamina and fluency and helps
prepare them for when they start reading their tests on their own in JANUARY.
•
•
They can read their library books or any other materials at home as long as they
•
are READING! 
MATH HOMEWORK
• The main focus for math homework this semester is to study and learn
their addition math facts.
• Next semester, we will focus on subtraction facts.
• There is a MATH HOMEWORK MENU provided to help with fun ways
and ideas to get your child to want to learn and practice their facts.
• Students will be expected to read their tests ON THEIR OWN
BEGINNING IN JANUARY.
Make Up Work
•
Graded work that is sent home with a grade
below a 70 can be redone at home and sent
back the next day for a maximum grade of
70.
•
Please help your child correct any mistakes
on their paper (IN PEN and do not erase
original answers). Initial it at the top with
the date so we know it has been checked and
reviewed.
•
Some make up assignments will be done with
the teacher during RTI in small groups or
one-on-one depending on the needs of the
student.
Behavior System
We use a clip chart in class to monitor behavior for
each day.
Everyone is able to move up or down depending on
the choices they make.
Pink- SUPER STUDENT (students are rewarded) 
Purple-GREAT JOB
Blue-GOOD CHOICES
Green-READY TO LEARN (everyone starts here)
Yellow-THINK ABOUT IT
Orange-TEACHER’S CHOICE
Red-PARENT CONTACT
It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to check
the chart at the end of the day and mark the
color they are on in their behavior log. I will
leave a note ONLY for any clips below green.

DIFFERENT WAY than he/she normally leaves, A
NOTE MUST BE PROVIDED letting us know the

•
If a note is a not provided, your child will be sent home the
