Here’s the Idea
Pronouns that end in –self or –selves
are either reflective or intensive
pronouns.
A reflexive pronoun refers to the
subject and directs the action of the
verb back to the subject.

An intensive pronoun emphasizes the noun
or pronoun in the same sentence.

Some very important information all
writers need to remember!
• Hisself and theirselves may look like real
words, but they cannot be found in any
dictionary.
• Look for them yourself and see if you can
find them.
• You should use himself and themselves
instead.

Directions: Identify the reflexive or intensive pronoun in
