Dissemination and
Communication in FAIRMODE



Dissemination and communication of
FAIRMODE scope, progress and activities form
an integral part of its function and are crucial for
its success
FAIRMODE aims to support harmonised use of
models for regulatory purposes between member
states – only possible through cooperation and
exchange of experience
Activities regarding awareness raising and
dissemination/communication are included in the
work programme of FAIRMODE every year

Target audience and accessibility



Information on FAIRMODE progress and
activities is accessible by all stakeholders (in
particular modellers, national experts and
national/European authorities) through the official
web portal
Information is also disseminated in relevant
conferences, workshops and targeted meetings
Plenary and WG Meetings of FAIRMODE are
advertised through the web portal as well as
through personal invitations to selected
stakeholders
Communication and
Dissemination activities


The following activities are foreseen although
some of them are not yet implemented
 Web
portal
 Conferences, seminars, workshops
 Newsletter
 Documents and deliverables published in journals,
scientific reviews
 Private communication
 An electronic forum
 Plenary Meetings
FAIRMODE web portal

http://fairmode.ew.eea.europa.eu/
The present version provides information on the
scope, objectives and structure of FAIRMODE. It
includes links to relevant projects, legislation,
guidance documents on model use and guides to
specific models. All past and future FAIRMODE
activities are advertised.
A “members’ area” is dedicated to internal
communication and exchange of data and
documents.
In its final version, the web portal is expected to
function as a common platform for reporting and
storing modelling information (data,
recommendations,/guidance) and facilitate
communication between countries, but also between
modellers and policy makers.
Update of the FAIRMODE
web portal



Improve usability/appearance
Provide the capability to register interest in
various Sub-groups
Include dedicated section to support the modelling
activities of FAIRMODE
The section will provide scope and technical
information , also employing an electronic forum
throughout the period of the modelling activities

The role of NFPs and NRCs
AUT/
LHTEE



Their function is similar to that of the EIONET
partnership network and play an important role in
strengthening communication between Member
States
NFPs and NRCs are invited to express their views
and needs in the FAIRMODE meetings / events /
forum
They could organise national sub-networks if
appropriate

Communication activities

Link strongly with existing electronic tools for
archiving and harmonisation (EEA’s data centre,
MDS, COST728 validation meta-database,
COST728/732 Model inventory, AirBase)
MDS will be updated to respond to the needs of
modelling for policy applications
The modelling activities that will be organised
(WG2) within the frame of FAIRMODE will
constitute a means to promote cooperation and
exchange of experience between experts and
authorities of Member States
