Need in the 21st century…
• 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will have suffered
some form of domestic abuse in their lifetime – it is
the most quoted reason for being homeless and
costs society £23 billion per year
• 2 women are killed every week by a current or
former partner
• Depression is the number 1 psychological disorder
in the western world affecting 10 times more people
since 1945 – by 2020 it will be the 2nd most
disabling condition after heart disease
• On average 9% of the UK population will suffer from
clinical depression in their lives
Need in the 21st century…
• 1 million UK adults have a continuing addictive drug
problem
• There has been a 109% rise in people sleeping
rough in the last 5 years
• The number of recorded sexual offences continues
to rise with a 41% increase between 2014 and 2015
