Hardware, Installation & maintenance
V-SERIES PANEL HARDWARE - INSTALLATION
This module covers the installation aspects of the V-Series. For operational and general features,
refer to the V-Series manual.
SAFETY
► WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the unit to rain or
moisture. Apart from fitting the AES-3 daughter card, there are no user serviceable units within the
V-Series.
►For proper ventilation, make sure ventilation openings are not blocked
► Mains AC Power Each V-Series has an external power supply, with a removable DC power
cord. The power supply is “universal,” operating over a voltage range of 90 to 245 VAC and 50 to
60 Hz. The maximum dissipation is 40 W.
► The external power supply which may be mounted in a clip on the back of the panel or
located away from the panel. If the power supply is not mounted in the clip on the rear of
the panel the clip can be detached to save space by removing the two mounting screws.
► Adjustments No initial adjustments are required to set up the panels other than the standard
input level adjustment made through the Eclipse EHX Configuration System.
► Configuration Assign each panel’s name and other parameters by using the Eclipse EHX
Configuration System. For instructions, see the Eclipse EHX Configuration System Manual.
More details are available in the V-series Instruction Manual
V-SERIES PANEL HARDWARE - INSTALLATION
► Leave at least 2 inches (5 cm) of clearance at the rear of the
panel’s chassis to allow for cable connectors and access to the
rear-panel controls.
► AES-3 daughter card can be fitted into the V- panel
More details are available in the V-series Instruction Manual

PANEL TO MATRIX CONNECTIONS.
The V series panel can be cabled to the matrix in a number of ways
 ANALOGUE-CAT5. The panel to matrix run length can be up to 1kM (5/8 mile). Using a straight CAT5
(STP) cable
 COAX- using 75ohm video cable using the AES-3 daughter card fitted to the panel. The maximum
distance is 500m. Can also provide 2 audio channels (matrix1, matrix 2) to / from the panel. The V-panel
must be connected to a AES-6 interface card at the matrix end
 DIGITAL-CAT5 using CAT5 cable using the AES-3 daughter card to the panel. Using 120 ohm CAT5 cable.
The maximum distance 200m. This method allows the panel to be routed via AES-3 backbone
infrastructures. Can also provide 2 audio channels (matrix1, matrix 2) to / from the panel. The V-panel
must be connected to a AES-6 interface card at the matrix end
IP using the Ethernet connector on the rear of the panel. The maximum distance 100m from a Ethernet
switch. This method allows the panel to be routed via the IP infrastructure. The matrix must be fitted with
a IVC-32 card.

Comms Module.
At the rear of the V-Series, the comms module
contains two RJ45 connectors. The RJ45 EtherCONN
is for matrix connection, while there is a separate
connection to an expansion panel.
Pair 1 Audio output from Matrix to panel
Pair 2 RS-422 data input from panel to Matrix
Pair 3 Audio input from panel to Matrix
Pair 4 RS-422 data output from Matrix to panel
► The pinning for the cable(s) to expansion panel(s)
is a straight CAT5 (STP) cable

V-SERIES PANEL HARDWARE - INSTALLATION
V Series main panels have an industry
standard RJ45 socket allowing up to eight V
Series expansion panels to be daisy chained
from it
► Maximum 5 meters between any two
panels
► Maximum 7.5 meters in total length of all
expansion cables

AUXILIARY AUDIO CONNECTOR
The auxiliary audio connector allows additional
audio inputs and outputs to be connected to the
panel.
These can also be accessed by the internal
DSP audio mixer via EHX
The local Aux audio connector offers the
following
► 2nd Headset (mic and ears)
► External 1 input / output (line level)
► External 2 input / output (line Level)
► Aux LS output (line level)
► Hot Mic output (line Level)

AUXILIARY GPIO CONNECTOR
The auxiliary GPIO connector allows additional relays
and footswitches to be connected to the panel.
The local GPIO offers the following
► 2 GPO relay outputs
► EHX – MUTE relay
► EHX – AUX relay
► 2 programmable GPI relay inputs
► 3rd GPI relay inputs for (reply key)
► 4th GPI relay input for (listen again)
GPI wiring procedure
► To operate GPI Relay #1 input (A1/B1). Using a
footswitch or similar
► Wire the footswitch to pin 9 and pin 10 of DB-25F
► Wire a jumper link from pin 21 to pin 22 of DB-25F
► The Panel GPI Logic#1 functions are accessed via
EHX software
