Spring
One of the first flowers to
emerge in spring is the
Snowdrop.

Many plants such as primroses and lesser
celandines flower early before the tree
canopy blankets them in shade.

Lesser celandines
Grey Herons can be seen all year round but breed as early
as February, at this time of year their beaks become a bright
orange colour. They nest in colonies, some of which are very
old, the oldest recorded dates back to 1293.

Bluebells – for three to four weeks a year you can
see a beautiful blanket of bright blue covering the
ground in deciduous woods.
