Plants possess a green material called chlorophyll,and in
this respect they differ form forms of animal life.
If we dig up a common garden weed such as shepherd’s
purse wa shell be able to study its form and carry out
experments in order to find out how the different parts function.
Shepherd’s purse, which is an annual weed,may be
found in flowers on cultivated ground at all seasons of the year.
The plant consists of a stem with leaves,leafbuds,flowers
and fruits,together with a root system below soid level.

 Much of the water taken in through the roots is given out
by the leaves.

may be of four kinds.
