FACTS
White tigers are believe to be the second largest species of tiger in the world after
the Siberian tiger
White tigers carry a special gene that only 1 in every 10,000 tigers have
White tigers usually live for 10 years but in captivity their life span doubles
There has been no recorded sightings of white tigers in the wild for the past 50
years
EXTINCT
White tigers are going extinct because
White tigers were often captured for the wealthy, who kept them as pets
Their fur is very valuable and they have been hunted for their fur
With deforestation because of settlement, the white tigers have suffered from
habitat loss
HOW
Humans can protect white tigers by
Stop cutting down trees in forests where white tigers live
Stricter laws on poaching
Adopt a white tiger at a zoo which has them
Poaching fines should doubled or longer jail
terms
WHY
Humans should protect the white tigers because
If they go extinct it may ruin the ecosystem as they keep the animal population in
check
You want the next generation to know about these special species
Once we lose them we lose them forever
There are very few of them left
