Evolution and Biodiversity, Climate, Terrestrial
and Aquatic Biodiversity
Unit 3 & 4 Title Page – Goals Section
Course Learning Goal:
Students will be able to analyze and apply the Earth as one
interconnected system in which humans have impacted and altered
these natural systems creating environmental problems that have a
cultural and social context in which human survival depends on

and Aquatic Biodiversity
Unit 3 & 4 (Ch. 4-7) Title Page – Goals Section

In addition to Level 3, the student can make connections to real-world applications and
content in other AP Environmental Science units.
Student can correctly:
ü Identify components of an ecosystem structure (biological populations and
communities; Ecological niches; interactions among species; keystone species;
species diversity and edge effects; major terrestrial and aquatic biomes).
ü Describe energy flow (Photosynthesis and cellular respiration; food webs and
trophic levels; ecological pyramids).
ü Predict and analyze natural ecosystem change (climate shifts, species movement;
ecological succession).
ü Analyze, ecosystem diversity (biodiversity; natural selection; evolution; ecosystem
services).
ü Analyze loss of biodiversity through habitat loss, overuse, pollution, introduced
species; endangered and extinct species..
ü Apply loss of biodiversity maintenance through conservation and relevant laws and
treaties.
The Student can correctly complete most of Level 3.
