The 1st marine expedition had been
carried out since February, 16 to
June, 11, 1981 aboard S/V “Kallisto”
and “Berill”
Sites of study:
Northern part of Gulf of Tonkin
up to southern islands Condao,
Spratlys (In total more than 60
reefs in 12 various areas were
investigated)
1979 - 2002:
Many coastal sites were sampling
for biodiversity
Research on sedimentation and
turbulence processes in various
zones of a reef of Gulf of Tonkin

hermatypic corals with 356
species, and 71 genus was
reported including 124 species
were not known for Vietnam
before and 12 species are the
new to a science.
