Flux Linkage
A flux given by
  BA
Is passing through this coil which lies at
right angles to the magnetic field
(where B is the flux density
of the magnetic field and
BA is the area of the coil)
For a coil with 2 turns we have
For a coil with 3 turns flux given by
2  2 BA
3  3BA
For a coil with N turns we have
N  BAN
Where N is the number of turns in the coil.
The quantity NΦ is know as the FLUX LINKAGE and when the coil is at
right angles to field as in this case.
If a coil is not at right angles to the uniform field then only a component of
the flux passes through the coil
θ
  BA cos 
(the square coil is shown
only for clarity of the diagram)
θ
The magnetic field
A cosθ
The area
through
which the flux
acts
For a coil with N turns we have
N  BAN cos 
θ
Where N is the number of turns in the coil.
