Russia is a vast country with a
thousand-year history, a welleducated and ethnically diverse
population, enormous natural
resources, and a broad, but
declining industrial base. Since the
breakup of the Soviet Union in
1991, Russia has experienced
great difficulties in moving from its
old centrally planned economy to a
modern market economy. Financing
for its space program has declined
sharply.
Geophysics is an interdisciplinary physical science concerned with the
make-up, behavior, and planetary environment of the earth. The
techniques of physics, mathematics, and chemistry are applied to the
structure and dynamic behavior of the earth. Included in this
interdisciplinary area are a large number of complex and interrelated
natural processes ranging from processes in the earth’s core to processes
in the atmosphere and magnetosphere.
Lewis And Clark Pathways follows the Missouri
River and uses the famous expedition as a roadmap
for discovering the beauty, folklore, and people of
North Dakota - both past and present. Amy Mossett,
tourism director of Three Affiliated Tribes and
descendant of Sakakawea, guides us on a journey
through along the rich and scenic riverway followed
200 years ago by the Corp of Discovery on their
momentous journey through North Dakota.

families as the American
"communities" were
characterized not only by
specific, typical for one
region, features but also by
general, common for many
regions, features. The
Russian meaning of the
notion "regional culture
family" is supported by the
united mechanism

stone-buildings of the

reconstructed
• The Chapel of St. Nikolai
was built and served as a
symbolic center of the
Russian Empire. During the
years of communism the
chapel was destroyed; and
later became the site for a
Stalin monument, which has
since been destroyed after
the exposure of the Stalin
personality cult.
