Write a brief plan –
introduction, key
points/case study
examples for main part,
conclusion.
Proof read the final
version. – 2 minutes in
the exam.
Make sure you have a
conclusion that makes broad
evaluative judgements.
Stay focussed on the
command word e.g.
evaluate – throughout
the essay – not just in
the final conclusion
Introduction– what do you
understand by the
question? What is the
command word? What are
you going to include
G3 essays –
points to
remember
Use specialist terms e.g.
deindustrialisation,
tertiarisation, industrial
inertia, quaternary
industry, grants and
subsidies.
You need depth in the
main part – real case
study examples, facts and
figures. Up to date and
local (Welsh) is good.
Try to include a sketch
map or diagram if
relevant. A sketch map
of the s. Wales
industrial region would
suit this essay. Put it in
the main part –
annotate it with key
points and link it into
the essay.

• Make a reasoned assessment of these
respones
