MOBILE COMMUNICATION-INTRODUCTION
• Communication-Exchange of information between two or
more entities.
• Telecommunication-Transmission of information over long
distances through public or private networks.
• Mobile Communication-Exchange of information between
entities/people on the move (mobile phones ,walky- talkies,
laptops with internet access).
• Mobile Communication is becoming more and more popular
because of its ease, utility and availability from anywhere to
anywhere and anytime and with anyone.

Emerging Mobile Evolution – 4G
Mobile Generations Timelines
What is fourth generation (4G) mobile
systems?
• Fourth generation mobile communications systems are
characterized by high-speed data rates at 20 to 100 Mbps,
All-IP and Multi-media suitable for high-resolution movies,
Interactive gaming and high density television. Initial
deployments are anticipated in 2011-2012.

Mobile Communications -Future Trends
• SDR – Software Defined Radio
• Radio infrastructure with flexibility and Multiple
capability
• Mobile Standards independent handset
• Cost effective migration from 2G to 3G
• Dynamic programming for different air interface and
support upgrades
• MIMO – Multi-input Multi- output Radio channel
• Multiple Antennas at both the BTS and the terminal
– Significantly increases the Data rates with
sufficient multipath transmission
– Intelligent (Smart) Antennae

5G- All-IP NGN ( AIPN)
• The All-IP Network (AIPN) is an evolution of the 3GPP system
to meet the increasing demands of the mobile
telecommunications market.
• To meet customer demand for real-time data applications
delivered over mobile broadband networks, flat IP network
architectures are evolving.
• Primarily focused upon enhancements of packet switched
technology, AIPN provides a continued evolution and
optimization of the system concept in order to provide a
competitive edge and cost benefits.
All-IP NGN (Contd.)

•
The key benefits of flat IP architecture are :
lower costs
universal seamless access
improved user experience
reduced system latency
decoupled radio access and core network evolution
The drive to all IP-based services is placing stringent
performance demands on IP-based equipment and devices.
• There is strong demand for advanced telecommunications
services on wired and wireless Next Generation Network
(NGN) infrastructures.
