1.0 COMPUTER NAME & WORKGROUP SETTING
- Right click on “My Computer” icon and select “Properties”. The icon can be found at
desktop or start menu.
- Select “Computer Name” tab and click “Change” as shown below.

- Change “Computer name” to “intotest-xxx” where “xxx” represent the machine cost
center and “Workgroup” to “Control” then click “OK” to exit.
- Then, close all application to restart IPC for the settings to be effective.

1.1 DESKTOP PROPERTIES SETTING
- right click on desktop and select “Properties”.
- A pop-up will appear and select “Themes” tab then choose “Windows Classic”.

- Select “Desktop” tab and set “Background” to “None”;
- Set “Color” to black and click OK to apply it.

- Select “Screen Saver” tab and select “None” at the “Screen saver” selection  then
click on “Power”.

- In “Power Schemes” tab choose “Always On” option. Then set all the settings in this
scheme to “Never”.

- Click on the “Advanced” tab and uncheck the box as shown in the picture below.

- Navigate to “Hibernate” tab and check the “Enable hibernation” check box then
exit by clicking “OK”.

- Next, move onto “Settings” tab and set the “Screen resolution” to 1024 x 768 with
“32 bit” color quality and proceed to “Advanced”.

- In advanced windows, select the “Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver” tab
and uncheck the “Show Tray Icon” check box and click “OK” to exit into desktop.

1.2 TASKBAR PROPERTIES SETTING
- At the desktop, right click on the taskbar and select “Properties”
- Select “Taskbar” tab and uncheck “Group similar taskbar buttons” and “Hide
inactive icons”.

- Next, move on to “Start Menu” tab and select “Classic Start Menu” and click “OK”
to exit.

1.3 NETWORK CONNECTION SETTING
- Right click on “My Computer” and select “Properties” and then proceed to “Device
Manager”.

- At Device Manager, right click on the network device icon as shown below and
select “Properties”.

- A pop-up as shown in the picture below will appear. The network device is working
properly status will be stated as shown below.

- After checking that the network connection is working properly, proceed to “My
Network Places” through “My Computer” as shown below.

- Once in, select “View network connections”.

- Right click on “Local Area Connection” and select “Properties”.

- Highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click “Properties”. Select “Obtain an IP
address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. Click “OK”
to exit when complete.

- Finally, check the “Show icon notification area when connected” box and click
“OK” to exit.

1.4 NETWORK CONNECTION SETTING
- At Desktop, right click select “Properties”, & a pop out box will appear.

- Tap “Advanced” & another pop out box will appear. Choose the graphic tab,
uncheck “Show Tray Icon” & tap on “Graphic Properties”

- A pop-up as shown below will appear. Go to the “Display” tab  tap the “General
Settings” tab & make sure “Rotate To Normal” option is selected.

- Go to “Power” tab  tap the “Power Plans” tab. Make sure “Balance” option is
checked

- Finally, go to the “Options and Support” tab & uncheck the “Enable” Hot Key
Functionality box.

1.5 EAST ASIAN LANGUAGE FILES INSTALLATION
- Only proceed to the steps below if IPC is for use on China machine else
continue to Section C of IPC Setup
- First, go to “Control Panel” and double click on the “Regional and Language
Options” icon as shown below

- A pop-up as shown below will appear.

- Go to the “Language” tab and check the “Install files for East Asian languages”
box. A pop-up as shown will appear and just click “OK” to proceed.

- Setup will then prompt for the Windows installation CD. (Make sure that correct
version of the XP Installation CD is used.) Insert the installation CD into the IPC
reader and then click “OK” to proceed.

- After windows is done copying the required files from the installation CD, proceed
to the “Advanced” tab and select “Chinese (PRC)” as shown below and then click
“Apply”.

- After clicking “Apply”, a pop-up as shown below will appear. Just click “Yes” to
proceed.
- Finally, restart the IPC for the settings to take effect.
