Overall Video Security Status
2009 and 2010 were tough years…
– Most manufacturers reported negative growth in 2009 compared
to 2008 and flat results in 2010.
– Most integrators reported an overall 12% reduction in revenues
• Many had staff reductions
IP Growth has now hit the growth rate anticipated two
years ago.
– Projected in 2010 to be near 40-50% growth over 2009
Going forward, the IP Segment will continue to grow, but
will the overall market?
– Very dependent on GDP of the main geographic areas..
– ASIA will most likely continue to grow regardless of worldwide
economic conditions due to infrastructure needs
– EMEA and Americas…. ? Saturated already..

Megapixel Technology
Continues to be the number one IP system driver
– Alternative in HD-CCTV (no mainstream development yet)
1.3MP is still main volume with 2MP, 3MP & 5MP
becoming more common in applications
– Price of 1.3MP cameras dropping to VGA IP cameras
– Higher MP cameras used in special applications like 4-way
cameras
– 75% of Vicon’s IP system sales in past 6 months included some
MP cameras.
Due to bandwidth and storage considerations, many
systems use MP cameras in a VMD mode where low
frame rate is used until motion is detected…
This information is confidential and is not to be provided to any third party without Vicon Industries Inc.’s prior written consent.
Storage & Networking
Increased resolution and demand for high frame rates is
driving the need for more complex storage solutions.
– Internal RAID formats
– Networked ISCSI RAID
Constant increase in drive density is dramatically
reducing storage cost
– 2 TB drives now available
Typical cost of 1 TB drive now under $100.00
These reductions have affected IP video as well as DVR
costs
– dramatic drop in overall system cost
Still a need for improved capabilities in installer
knowledge of storage and networking…

Video Content Analysis
Analytics
– The analytics market still has not grown to the size projected
some years back
– Total worldwide Analytics market estimated at about $40M
– Growth has been hampered by:
• Complexity of the technology (setup and false alarms)
• Lack of proper expectations
• Cost per channel
– Market for Analytics is still mainly in defense sectors. Small
portion of analytics are used in commercial applications
– Transfer of the Analytics to edge (camera) is still a driving factor
in IP video camera deployment

Standards…
ONVIF™: (Open Network Video Interface Forum)
– Global standard for the interface of network video products
– The ONVIF specification was created to improve interoperability
between network video products regardless of
manufacturer. The cornerstones of ONVIF are:
• Standardization of communication between network video
devices
• Interoperability between network video products regardless of
manufacturer
• Open to all companies and organizations
– The ONVIF specification defines a common protocol for the
exchange of information between network video devices
including automatic device discovery, video streaming and
intelligence metadata.
This information is confidential and is not to be provided to any third party without Vicon Industries Inc.’s prior written consent.
Standards
PSIA
– Another standards group
– Many believe that ONVIF will become the only standard adopted.
• Right now over 50 companies report that they are supporting ONVIF, only
10 support PSIA.
Generally, most believe that the ONVIF standard is now maturing
enough that many of the newer IP products released in late 2011 &
2012 will support ONVIF.
– All future Vicon IP products will be released as an ONVIF standard
product.
Next step for ONVIF… recording standard..
Feature sets, performance, engineering optimization and reliability
will still determine which products consumers should select.
