7
Innovation | IP Value Proposition
IP Services provide the broadest,
converged, most cost-effective
coverage. The Main Benefits are:
The difference of
Taking You Farther with Flexibility
poised for explosive emerging market growth
True Convergence and Innovation
poised to enable carrier to fulfill their customers
evolving needs
Reliable Services
a robust IP platform

Future-Proof | Next Generation Network
A New Network to Serve a New Generation
In order to stay ahead, it is necessary to actively plan the implementation of a
Converged Next Generation Network (NGN).
A design team must be engaged with all the major vendors doing proof of
concept and evaluating all the equipment on the market today as well as
vendor roadmaps for their future offerings.
Unified Platform: All over IP
A unified platform for voice, mobile signalling, and IP Transit services. The
objective of true convergence is to migrate and develop all services over the
same network infrastructure.
As it has been reviewed in this conference as well, IPV6 provides full support
of the next generation protocol in accordance with the evolving needs of the
marketplace and facilitates the development of NGN and how it can support the
future needs of the Caribbean market.
9
True Convergence & Innovation | MPLS
MPLS-enabled backbones
Support for VoIP networks
Support for network-integrated SS7 over IP for wireless customers
IPv6 protocol for new numbering
Next Generation Network (NGN) project: A unified IP platform for all services
The Requirements
Diverse and redundant network architecture and topology
Needs to be a reliable backbone to ensure high packets delivery
Global reach with regional capillarity
10
IP Flexibility | Transport Services for True Convergence
IP Transit
Connectivity to the IP backbone provides you with not only intra regional reach, but also worldwide.
International access options provide connectivity to IP PoPs and to the global Internet.
Satellite IP Solutions
Islands with limited or unreliable cable connectivity still have the option to connect using IP Transit
satellite solutions.
SCPC Internet access can provide satellite connectivity combined to an internet port, anywhere in the
world. The satellite link can be duplex, asymmetrical, or simplex to fit your various needs.
DVB/IP (Digital Video Broadcast) satellite service offer a relatively inexpensive satellite solution,
providing the downstream by satellite shared infra-structure.
IPv6
The IP next generation protocol provides access to the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) with either a
Native V6, or a V4/V6 Dual-Stack connection or a Tunnel Broker Service that enables access IPV6 in
a cost effective way thought the IPV4 infrastructure.

Future-Proof Network |
IP Backbone Fully MPLS-Enabled Network
Enhanced IP Routing Performance and Scalability
Facilitates explicit routing
Optimizes IP networks by enabling traffic engineering
Fully integrates IP routing & MPLS switching
Separates control from the forwarding mechanism
Multi-Service Networking
Leverages existing IP infrastructures
Drives dynamic optical bandwidth provisioning
Facilitates private networking over public IP infrastructure
Develop a single forwarding algorithm to support a wide range of routing and
switching functionality

Collaboration | TelePresence
Being Here is Being There
As convergence brings voice, data, and video onto the same network.
Business discussions will encompass not just multiple people but also multiple locations.
In the past, videoconferences in particular have been difficult to set up, challenging to use, and
frequently unsatisfying in their ability to replicate in-person meetings and the benefits of faceto-face interaction.
TelePresence delivers real-time, face-to-face
interactions between people and places in their
work and personal lives using advanced visual,
audio, and collaboration technologies. These
technologies transmit life-size, high-definition
images and spatial discrete audio.

Security | Network Reliability
DoS & Common Attacks
Easier to detect and trace network-wide
anomalies such as DDoS and worm attacks
using both home-grown and recognize
traffic analysis solutions.
Benefits:
Ability to remotely control the black-holing of
a given subnet prefix using BGP Inbound
community.
Central IPNOC managed null route, as
requested via telephone call or e-mail.
Routing Information Integrity
An automated program retrieves each day the latest routing database
information by polling of Internet Routing Registry (ARIN, RADB and RIPE).
Filtering of incoming BGP route announcements at the AS-path and prefix
level using access control lists.
A Converged Network protects data by making sure it
gets to the intended destination
17
Network Convergence | Performance
More Control with a Converged Network:
1- PROTECT
2- DETECT
Establish a unified policy and
procedures
Establish an incident response team.
Maintain and enforce a response policy
Review & automate scanning/patching of
the network systems.
Create a single detection mechanism
for monitoring all services
Detection and trouble shooting of a single
network
.
3- ACT
Do case-by-case analysis
Share information with others involved.
Do case-by-case reviews
Establish a method for tracing faults
Perform historical analysis
18
Platform Ubiquity: The Convergence Value Proposition
…More Control
Building block /
modular network
approach
A single network to
manage for the
supplier
A single connection
to manage for the
operator
Promotes
connectivity as it
simplifies becoming
part of a regional
network
…less duplicity…
Single network team
Single platform
connectivity: Less
networks to manage
Global connectivity:
Chose a true global
provider fully
committed and
funded to a truly
converged network
A unifying platform…
Virtual services:
Easier to upgrade
Equipment upgrade
responsibility falls
mainly on the
supplier
Easier to implement
new protocols and
services
A wealth of value
added services and
products
