AT-9900 Value and Alliedware
The AT-9900 series’ combination of reliable hardware design and fully-featured
software represents unbeatable value
Advanced AlliedWare features that add value:
•
VLAN double tagging
•
4096 VLANs
•
Advanced Quality of Service (QoS)
•
Advanced multicast protocols
•
802.1x user authentication
•
Easy management options
AlliedWare Features & Benefits
VLAN double tagging
Service Providers can offer a revenue-generating service to customers
 Subscribers can retain their existing VLAN tags across remote offices

4096 VLANs

Service Providers can increase each customer’s VLAN allocation, giving better separation
of services than switches with fewer VLANs

AlliedWare Features & Benefits
Advanced QoS
Intelligently manage network traffic to allow stable and predictable end-to-end
network performance
 Ideal solution for mixed application networks running voice, data, and video
traffic
 Allows traffic to be processed with up to eight levels of priority for optimal
network control
 Bandwidth limit resolution down to 1Kbps gives very precise control of
bandwidth guarantees


AlliedWare Features & Benefits
Easy management options
An intuitively designed CLI, with Telnet, SSH and SNMPv3 for secure and
remote management
 The Alliedware Stacking feature allows a stack of switches to be administered
as one, through one IP address, even if switches are in different locations
 The Virtual Cable Tester means that the event of network interruption,
administrators can accurately identify a fault’s location without disconnecting any
cables

10GbE XFP Transceiver
9900s Family
Used on both the SwitchBlade 10Gig card and the 9900s AT-A60 1x10GbE
expansion module
The XFP is an application-agnostic ultra-small 10Gbps optical transceiver
module standardized by the XFP MSA Group (http://www.xfpmsa.org/).
Its small footprint and low power dissipation enables the highest board density
10Gbps applications in the industry.
The XFP transceiver appears to have become the most commonly used 10GbE
transceiver.
It is currently available in fibre, ranging from 500 metres to 40km, with an 80km
product being developed by vendors, available end 2004.
