3G seems to be coming
too many trials, too many orders
• it will happen, no matter what (even without killer app)
3G is overly complex
3G is not designed for IP
• nor is IP designed for 3G
Clearly, there is a need for disruption
VoIP has already shown some maturity
WLAN has gained significant interest

VoIP over WLAN is an emerging market
there are still technical hurdles to pass
• time will take care of these
from business side, it seems to be disruptive but
only for business users
• thus limiting the disruptiveness of the whole scheme
Choice is a difficult one
too many technologies
• VoWLAN, VoBT, 3G, 802.20, 802.16(?)
• integration into PBX systems?
fall back to number one (2G, 2,5G, 3G)?
