Hibernation Feature (Windows XP / Windows 2000)
Hibernation is a new kind of shutdown:
 First it saves your PC’s desktop state with all open files and
documents as you left them. It does this by saving all of RAM to a
large file on your hard disk.
 Then it powers down your computer.
 When power returns and the operating system starts up, the RAM
is reloaded from the hard disk.
 The desktop and all open files and applications are then presented
as they were before the shutdown occurred.
 This is better than “file saving”, prevents data corruption, and
decreases time-to-recovery.

Agents sit on each server and talk to the UPS via serial or USB
Provides UPS status monitoring and, in the event of an extended power outage, system shutdown capabilities for
your UPS-protected computers. This software must be installed on each of your computers that are directly attached
to one of the UPS systems.
Server collects information from all Agents
Used to configure and monitor the PowerChute Business Edition Agents. The PowerChute Business Edition Server
gathers information from the PowerChute Business Edition Agents and provides centralized event tracking, event
notification and a single point of contact for the PowerChute Business Edition Console. This software must be
installed on one of your networked computers.
Management Console offers central view of all the information.
Connects to the PowerChute Business Edition Server to provide the user interface for managing and configuring
your UPS-protected systems. Install the PowerChute Business Edition Console on any workstation, desktop or
laptop.
