Family Background
Caesar was born a Praetor by Aurelia and
Gaius Julius Caesar.
His family had Patrican roots.
His Aunt was married to Gaius Marius who
was the leader of the Popular faction.
Caesar Obtains Power



Julius Caesar obtained power through
brilliantly commanded military conflicts
and bribing many key politicians.
He also had a number of marriages that
cemented alliances such as the
marriage of his daughter to Pompey.
He also held key political offices that he
abused to his advantage.
Caesar’s Reign

Julius Caesar ruled from 59-44 B.C.
from when he was elected consul to
his assassination in March of 44 B.C.
Caesar and Architecture
 Julius
Caesar was more into
destroying and conquering things
rather than building so he never built
any architectural structures.
Social Reformation
 Caesar
declared himself dictator of Rome
which reformed their government.
 He also conquered Gaul spreading Roman
culture and ideals.
Military Campaigns


Caesar led very successful military
campaigns because he was both an
extremely brilliant commander and
successful political leader.
Caesar conquered all of Gaul, part of Asia
Minor, and Egypt.
Roman Territory
 During Caesar’s reign Roman territory
expanded the most it ever would
because he conquered some of the
biggest nations in ancient Europe.
Caesar’s End
 Very unfortunately Caesar was assassinated
on the Senate floor by many Senators. Since
Caesar’s campaign in Gaul the Senate
disliked him and finally had to put an end to
his power stabbing him 23 times throughout
his body.
