diverse.
It ranges from plains in central Europe
with tall grasses, to old growth forest in
much of western Europe.
CLIMATE OF EUROPE
Europe has a relatively mild climate
despite being at a high latitude.
This is mainly due to the North Atlantic
current that brings warm water from
the south up to the edge of the
continent.
This current also ensure that there is
plenty of rainfall in the area.

Industry is very large in Europe.
France, Poland, Germany, Britain, and
Italy are some of the top industrial
producers in the world.
Europe also has vast amounts of natural
resource both on the continent and
offshore. These include oil, iron ore,
coal and other minerals.
European culture
European culture began on the southeastern
edge of the continent with the Greeks and
Romans. Most of the different cultures that
are found today Europe came from this
southeastern area of the.
Most importantly, this area was the birthplace
of what we now call democracy. It is called
the cradle of democracy.
Greek architecture
The Greeks and Romans also gave
the world some advanced forms
of architecture that arte still in use
today.
The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire covered most
of what is now modern day
Europe. They subdued many of
the ethnic peoples from Europe
and turned them into Romans.
Roman Architecture
Romans were some of the most
advanced builders of the period.
Remains of roman architecture
span most of the continent of
Europe. Romans were on of the
first groups to build for usefulness
as well as utility.
Coliseum
The Roman coliseum was built in order
to entertain the masses through
gladiator fights and other public
spectacles. Thousands of people and
animals met their death in the coliseum.
Aqueducts
Romans built large aqueducts to
carry water from its source to the
cities. Many of these aqueducts
are still standing and could be
used if necessary.
Hadrian's wall
Hadrian's wall was constructed to
signify the northern boundary of
the Roman Empire. Some of the
wall still stands today, but most of
it has been carried off by local
farmers to build barns, houses,
and other needed structures. It
was also linked to a number of
Roman forts that housed soldiers
who guarded the northern
frontier.
Rise of Christianity and the
Middle Ages
When the Roman Empire split into two
parts, Europe entered what we call the
middle ages. It is the time period after the
fall of the Roman empire and up to the
beginning of the modern era. During the
middle ages, much of Europe was ruled by
the church. Great castles and cathedrals
were built to solidify the popes power. The
leader of the church is the pope.
Castles
Castles were uses for protection as well
and every day living.
An entire village could fit inside of the
castle if they were under the threat of
attack.
Cathedrals
Cathedrals were used as houses
of worship and also as living
spaces for the clergy. They were
laid out in a cross formation and
were usually at the center of
town. This still carries over to
present time.
