A group of 1,000 Zealots locked
themselves in a mountain fortress –
Masada
very difficult to reach
Zealots refused to surrender
For 2 years, Roman soldiers built
ramps to reach this fortress
When the Romans broke through,
the Zealots took their own lives.

Some Jews were taken to

temple to worship, synagogues became
more important.
Rabbis (religious teachers) increased
Over time, Jews began moving throughout
the world.
In most cases, Jews were forced out by other
religious groups.
They settled in Asia, Russia, and later the
United States.
