Perinatal Loss
We are very proud of the care we provide
our families when they experience a loss
Level of care and comfort is exemplary
In early stages of establishing palliative
care program for newborns not expected
to survive
Look for more details in the coming year
The Details are in the Paperwork!
A few details attended to when a fetus is delivered or a baby is born alive and then
dies also provide significant care and comfort to families down the road
Two calls must be made within first 10-15 minutes of fetal demise delivery or
expiration of live born infant
Admitting needs to be notified as soon as possible (w/i first 10-15 minutes--84310):
Name and MRN of mother
Stillborn or liveborn fetus/infant
Gestation and weight of baby (if not going to weigh w/i time frame call and give all other info)
If fetal demise, time of delivery
If live birth, time of death and MRN of baby
After death Services
Requires the same information also as soon as possible even if there is no autopsy
These activities help ensure that appropriate paperwork is completed that leads to
proper filing and information on death certificates—a very important aspect to parents
post hospitalization
Thanks for your attention to these very important details
