• Copy the directory SDN_TOOLS.zip on your computer or
• Download SDN_TOOLS.zip from the SeaDataNet Website
• Unzip the file

Content of SDN_TOOL directory
4 directories
• databases
• 3 directories : Excel, My_SQL, SIPPICAN_XBT
• 1 file : database_description.rtf
• exercises : text of the exercices, CSR and EDMED examples for
those who don’t take EDMED and CSR fulfilled forms.
• Mikado_usermanual
• mikado_V1.3 : software directory
• mikado.bat, for windows - mikado.csh for unix and apple

Based on a SIPPICAN XBT dataset
2 types of database for the same dataset
• Excel file
• 1 sheet with all the station information of the SIPPICAN
data
• MySQL database
• 2 tables with all the station information of the SIPPICAN

• Run MIKADO by double clicking on mikado.bat
in mikado_V1.3 directory
• Manual input of one EDMED form
• Manual input of one Cruise Summary Report
• Automatic generation of CDI files on one of the
example database
• Check the XML files with the XML validator

Practical work – requirements
Make sure that the java version is > = 1.6
1) To know if Java is available on your computer, in the right
version, follow these steps :
- Open 'Start' menu, then 'Execute'
- On the displayed window, enter: 'cmd', then click on 'OK'
button
- Enter 'java -version'
2) Check if command has been executed :
- If not, download the last java version at
http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.
- Else, check the version displayed.
The version should be greater than or equal to 1.6.

Practical work – requirements
For the trainees who want to test Mikado with MySQL
•
Those who have already MySQL on their labtops : make sure that
MySQL Query Browser is also available.
• If not, you must install it by double clicking on the following file
from the common directory
SDN_tools\databases\mysql\install\Query_browser\
file : mysql-gui-tools-5.0-r12-win32.msi
• Those who do not have MySQL: let us know, we will install it on your
notebook.
