MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
The Maths department is providing:
• 4 or 5 lessons per week with a specialist Maths
teacher
• An ‘open door’ policy for help with
homework/classwork
• A ‘drop-in’ homework club every Tuesday lunchtime
in the Maths Study Centre (entrance via the library)
• Tuesday after school revision sessions
• Internal controlled assessments (week beg:
12/10/15, 18/01/16, 25/04/16)
• Differentiated revision work packs (with supporting
timetable)
MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
How parents/carers can help:
• Ensure that your child brings the correct equipment
to every lesson (exercise book, pen, pencil, ruler,
eraser and a SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR)
• Enquire about homework (1 piece per week)/ask to
see it
• Encourage your child to come and ask for help if they
are struggling
• Encourage your child to come and ask for extension
material
•
MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
How parents/carers can help:
• Encourage past exam paper practice
• Purchase a revision guide/workbook
• Ensure that your child knows their timetables/the
number of days in each month of the year/the 12 & 24
hr clock/the suits in a deck of cards/money etc.
• Involve your child in everyday tasks that involve
maths e.g. plan the families weekly shop given a
certain budget, design a new bedroom given the
dimensions & cost of furniture/paint, which is the best
deal at the supermarket etc.
