(SBRC)
Goals of teaching and learning
What we want students to know
The specific knowledge, skills,
abilities, that we want students to
gain from school at each level
It involves describing the students’
progress as they work toward the
standards (work toward mastery)
It describes each individual
student’s progress throughout the
year
Current report card based on
tradition, not because it is the best
way to track and report student
learning
It will provide teachers a better way
to examine our teaching
Traditional percentages do not show growth or
progress toward standards
SBRC’s breaks down individual academic areas
Students get a better idea about their strengths
and weaknesses
Students and parent understand better what
the academic expectations are
Students can become more independent
learners knowing their learning targets
Parents know how well their student is
progressing toward the
standards/goals at their grade
Provides specific feedback to parents
and students of what areas need
improvement for academic achievement
More details on each student’s progress
