Protractor
Should be small, if possible.
Uses:
Ruler--Small Compact and always
accessible
Angle Measure Guide--essential
for pie charts (beginning of our course)
Pencil
Several #2 pencils or better yet, a
good (0.7 lead) mechanical pencil.
You’ll be doing lots of writing. And
while you are there, get lead for the
pencils.

We're drawing pie charts (1st part of the
course)
as well as bar charts and you MUST
be accurate. Graphs count for a lot
in Intro Stats.

Only graph paper is
acceptable for your work on paper.
Get a thick pad of it. You will need it.
You will have xeroxed problems,
for Classwork & Homework.
Anytime you need an extra piece of
paper it MUST be graph paper.
No graph paper, no pencil, no credit.

Who Should Take Intro Stats?
• You actually like math
• Algebra/Analysis is not your thing, but applied
math might be.
• The real world as it applies to math is something
worth learning about
• You like graphing and thinking about numbers
in context
• You want those A-G credits on your transcript
for college
• You don’t mind doing math homework
• You don’t mind taking notes everyday

• You are about to receive the green sheets or
syllabus for this class. The green sheets tell
most everything you need to know about this
course.
• The 3rd page of the Green Sheets must be
signed by you and your parent and returned to
my homework box.
• This is worth 10 classwork points. The Green
Sheet return is due on the day of the supply
check, Thursday September 8 to the HW box.

• No foul language of any kind—watch out for
words that are on my ‘do not say’ list. I’ll tell you;
don’t use them again.
• Be safe; be on time
• Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings
• Don’t talk out of turn
• Raise you hand to speak

More Rules
• No personal grooming; grooming belongs in the
bathroom not in a classroom
• No gum. Get rid of it before I get upset.
• No electronic equipment of any kind, including
cell phones & ipods, except for your calculator. I
see you touch a phone in class, you will hand it
over to me.
• No name calling physical contact or making fun
of anyone in class
• No bathroom breaks; you have 6 min between
classes for that
• Obey all normal rules outlined in the WHS

Tardy Policy
• On the 3rd tardy to class during a
semester, I will give warning
• On the 4th tardy to class, I will deduct 2
points from your next test score
• For all tardies after the 4th, I will continue
to deduct 2 points from your next test
score. The option to send you to the SRC
after the 3rd tardy also exists.
