Creating an Interactive Scavenger Hunt
Considerations
Two aspects to consider when creating the Interactive Scavenger Hunt Postcard
1)
2)
The Design (The front)
The Interactive Activity (The back)
The postcard as a whole should provide the viewer with an interactive
experience when they visit the site in terms of the content but they the activity
needs to consider how the viewer can become an active participant of the
interactive journey.
This means they will need to experience but also interpret their experience.
Creating an Interactive Experience
Your job as the designer of this experience is to consider the
Design
Give the receiver of the postcard an indication of what kind of interactive
journey they will embark on. This needs to be reflected in the design of
the postcard. This needs to be communicated purely visually. That is
you shouldn’t need text or words to communicate something about your
journey.
The Experience
Write an imaginative, original and exciting interactive experience for the
receiver to experience.
The Design: Visual communication
• How can you visually represent interactivity?
The Design: Visual Communication
• How can you visually represent how
you feel when you enter the site?
The Design: Visual Communication
• How do I communicate a
virtual space?
The Design: Visual Communication
•
As you are creating your composition you will need to consider:
-
Visual Hierarchy: Is there an order to your images? Does your design tell a
story/narrative? Does it communicate a message/idea about your site?
-
Does your design say something?
Are you just creating a montage of used images or are you creating something new?
What new idea are you creating out of the website images?
The Experience:
Mapping their virtual experience.
•
Consider that in visiting your website the user is to view and experience but
also interpret what they have experienced.
This task requires you to think about virtual interactions online and allow the
receiver to recreate their experience in some form. That is they are to
view/experience something but then record their experience.
The user is to map their virtual experience in a physical form.
That is: they are to interpret their virtual interactions online through a
physical activity.
The Experience:
Mapping their virtual experience.
The Experience:
Mapping their virtual experience.
In the creation of your task you are to consider how the receiver can record or
map their experience. This could be through a written record or a subjective,
expressive interpretation.
Remember to be creative. The receiver should not just view information on the
website but respond to it.
Finally!!! Consider how that physical record/interpretation could be viewed
by others or passed onto others and continued.
Think of it as a creative version of a chain letter.
Fini!
